Visa quarterly profit jumps 14%


American company Visa in the second fiscal quarter, which ended in March, recorded a net profit of $2 billion 977 million, which is 14.3% higher than the same period of the previous year. Earnings per share were at the level of 1 dollar 31 cents against the experts' forecast of 1 dollar 24 cents per share. Revenues amounted to 5 billion 494 million dollars, having increased over the year by 8% and exceeding the experts' forecast of 5 billion 460 million dollars. The number of transactions processed by Visa in the past quarter increased by 11% over the year, reaching 32.5 billion. The growth in cross-border payments, which did not take into account changes in the exchange rate, was at the level of 4%. During the earnings period, the company's expenses increased by 7% to 1 billion 900 million dollars. Since the beginning of the year, Visa capitalization has grown by 22.4%.
