In February of this year, the unemployment rate in the eurozone did not change, retaining the value of January at 7.8% and confirming the experts' forecasts, Eurostat data showed. The January unemployment rate of 6.5% remained in February in the countries of the European Union. For the EU, this is the lowest figure since January 2000. The number of unemployed in the euro area was 12 million 730 thousand people, in the EU countries - 16 million 12 thousand people. In the eurozone, the figure fell by 77 thousand, in the EU - by 102 thousand. Compared with February last year, the most significant decrease in unemployment was recorded in Greece - from 20.8% to 18%, and in Cyprus - from 9.4% to 7.1%. The lowest unemployment rate was recorded in the Czech Republic – 1.9%, and Germany - 3.1%.
