Unemployment in Italy grew in April to 11,2%

Unemployment in Italy rose in April to 11.2% from 11.1% in March, data of the statistical agency Istat showed. Experts had predicted unemployment in April at 10.9%. The number of unemployed increased by 17 thousand and amounted to 2 million 912 thousand people. Compared with April 2017, the number of unemployed in Italy grew by 24 thousand people. In April, the employment rate of the population was 58.4%, increased by 0.1 percentage points. The number of employees increased by 0.3% and amounted to 23 million 200 thousand people. Compared with April last year, the number of employed people increased by 0.9%.
