The UK continued its steady growth in retail sales in July

The balance of retail sales in July fell to a plus 20 points from a 9-month high of plus 32 points in June, marking the second strong month thanks to warm weather, which continued to support retail sales. This was reported by the Confederation of British Industry. The decline in the balance in June was slightly less than the expectations of the economists. Nevertheless, the CBI economist Alpesh Paleha said: “While warm weather has increased retail sales in recent months, we can observe some signs of cooling, with orders declining for the year to July, and retailers do not expect sales to increase next month”.
