In February, the construction of 1 million 162 thousand houses was started in the USA, which is 8.7% less than in January, when their growth was 11.7%. As reported by the US Department of Commerce, the indicator fell in February at a maximum rate in 8 months. Economists estimate that the number of new buildings in February was expected at the level of 1 million 210 thousand. Last month 1 million 296 thousand building permits were issued. This is 1.6% less than in January, when the figure fell by 0.7%. Experts also predicted a less significant decline - by 0.9%. The construction of single-family homes showed the fastest rate of decline in 4 years. Their figure fell by 17%. At the same time, an increase of 17.8% was noted in the construction of apartment buildings. Experts point out that a lack of supply remains the main reason for the decline in demand for residential real estate in the US.
