German car manufacturer Volkswagen announced plans to develop a platform for electric vehicles that will be sold in the Chinese market, Dow Jones writes. To this end, Volkswagen has entered into an agreement of intent with its Spanish brand Seat and Chinese company JAC, which involves the production of electric vehicles at the joint venture JAC Volkswagen. It is planned to introduce a Spanish brand by 2021 and launch the Seat electric vehicle model. The agreement also provides that the companies will begin joint construction of a center for research and development of self-driving cars and other technologies by the end of this year.
