During the period from January to September, large industrial enterprises of China increased their profit by 14.7% compared with the figure a year earlier, after its growth by 16.2% in the first 8 months. Thus, data from the National Bureau of Statistics in China showed a slowdown in the growth of industrial profits in the country. The growth rate was noted in 34 of 41 studied industries. The best results were shown by such industries as steel, petrochemical and construction. In September, Chinese industrial enterprises, revenues of which exceeded 20 million yuan a year, increased profits by 4.1% in annual terms, compared with an increase of 9.2% in August. The September slowdown was caused by a decrease in the growth of production and sales of industrial enterprises.
