In April 2018, primary aluminum production in the world fell by 1.1% compared to the same month last year to 5 million 256 thousand tons, data of the International Aluminum Institute showed. The most significant drop in output was recorded in North America - by 11.2%, and in South America - by 4.6%. The production of aluminum in China decreased by 3.5% to 2 million 960 thousand tons. Excluding China, Asia experienced a significant increase of 11.6%. According to IAI, the average daily output of aluminum in the world declined to 175 thousand 200 tons in April against 177 thousand 100 tons a year earlier.
