In May of this year, 626,000 new homes were sold in the United States. According to the US Department of Commerce, the figure compared with the previous month fell by 7.8% to its lowest level since January of this year. The fall in sales was a surprise for economists, who had expected their growth to 684 thousand. In the US new housing market, there is a decline, despite the decline in home prices and low mortgage rates. Prices for new buildings in the west of the country are declining at the fastest pace since 2010. Last month, new homes in the United States were sold an average of $308,000 per house. For the year, their value decreased by 2.7%. At the end of the month, there were 333,000 new homes in the market, the same as in April.
