Inflation in France was 1.1% in March


In March, annual inflation in France slowed to 1.1% from 1.3% a month earlier. This final assessment of the March inflation rate, based on national standards, was presented by Insee. Compared with February, consumer prices rose 0.8%. Both indicators confirmed the forecasts of experts and coincided with a preliminary assessment of the statistical agency. The rise in food prices amounted in annual terms to 2.5%. Regarding February, they have risen in price by 0.2%. The cost of energy increased during the year by 5.1% after rising by 3.2% in the previous month. Prices for clothes and shoes decreased by 0.3%. Services went up by 0.6%. Inflation calculated by the standards of the European Union amounted to 1.3% in March, which is the lowest level since February 2018. Compared with February, consumer prices rose by 0.9%.
