Industrial production in France declined in March by 0.9% compared to February, when there was an increase of 0.1%, data from Insee showed. The sharp drop in the indicator was due to a decline in the manufacturing industry by 1% after February growth of 0.8%. In the first quarter, industrial output increased by 0.9%. The manufacturing industry index rose 1.1%. For the quarter, growth was shown by the majority of industries. The output of coal and petroleum products increased by 4.1%. Machines and equipment were produced 3.1% more than in the last quarter of 2018. In annual terms, industrial production in the first quarter increased by 0.5%. At the same time, the manufacturing industry recorded an annual increase of 1.3%. A sharp increase was observed in the production of transport equipment, where the figure increased by 5.4%.
