German Flixbus, which has a monopoly on international bus transport in Germany, may face serious competition from BlaBlaCar, the French service of searching for automobile travel companions on the Internet. The head of the French company, Nicolas Brusson, announced the appearance of the first BlaBlaCar buses in Germany in the near future. Deutsche Welle announced that the French carrier planned to launch regular buses between 60 German cities and the Benelux countries by the end of this year. The company intends to make travel costs cheaper than those of the German Flixbus, which controls 95% of the market in Germany and in 2015, increased ticket prices by 20%.
