Electricity consumption in China for the period from January to July increased by 9% in annual terms to 3 trillion 880 billion kilowatt-hours, the National Development and Reform Commission said. Compared with the same period last year, when the rise was 6.9%, the growth rate of the indicator increased. Demand for electricity from the industrial sector has increased since the beginning of the year by 7% in annual terms. In agriculture, consumption increased by 10%, in the services sector - by 14.2%. The demand of the population increased by 13.6%. Electricity consumption in the country is one of the key parameters for assessing economic activity in the PRC.
